Overview

Can you guess this pop-culture character by the quote?

“You don't understand clothing. You're dressed like this amorphous blob of khaki.”

You are right! It is Toby H. Flenderson from The Office. How can we forget the HR representative whose voice alone can put you to sleep? Jokes apart, he was the only person in the entire office to lend an ear whenever his team needed to vent. Not only Toby; HR representatives are always there for everyone in the office. #OfficeSuperheroes

The HR department in any workplace is responsible for managing the day-to-day administrative tasks and maintaining a harmonious work environment – and they cannot do that without the right tools. HR Technology, as it is known, has revolutionized the way the HR departments work by redefining how businesses hire and develop talent, how employees engage each other and even how they identify work issues!

In this fast-changing world, HR Technology is also changing at a similar pace. So, here is the list of top 5 HR Technology trends that will help you ace the HR game in 2022.

Techdogs-The Missing Piece Your HR Needs!-"Top Trends 2022 - HR Technology"
We’re all aware that Toby failed spectacularly in his duties as an HR representative – we mean, he cared more about The Scranton Strangler than his colleagues! However, what if he had tools that would have helped him carry out his day-to-day tasks easily? We are talking about the latest HR Technology trends that each business needs to be aware of in 2022.

Not just Toby though, the need for HR professionals to become more tech-savvy is also evident when you look at how modern-day businesses carry out their day-to-day tasks. Automating certain business processes can greatly reduce the amount of administrative work and allow managers to focus their time and energy on managing the workforce. HR Technology can go beyond HR representatives and help managers, employees and operations staff in different ways to improve the overall business efficiency.

Last year, the world of HR Technology saw trends such as the adoption of Artificial Intelligence and remote communication tools for remote workers, employee wellness and workforce upskilling among others. However, as the offices are opening up again, we will see a new wave of HR Technology trends this year.

Without further ado, read on to know the top HR Technology trends in 2022!

Trend 1: Remote And Hybrid Workforces Will Be The Future Of Work

TechDogs-"Trend 1: Remote And Hybrid Workforces Will Be The Future Of Work"-A Meme From Jumanji Showing How It Feels Like A Month Into Working From Home
Imagine Toby Flenderson working remotely. We know what you are thinking - it would have made no difference because he does not have any passion for HR anyway! Yet, most HR executives are not Toby – and those working from home need to be aware of one of the most important HR Technology trends of this year.

Remote work may have been necessary during the pandemic; however, remote work (along with hybrid work) is likely to become the norm in 2022. For HR teams, this indicates an extraordinary shift as they must now adjust to accommodate remote employees in an entirely new environment. #RemoteWorkIsIn

The remote and hybrid workforces will be among the most significant changes in the contemporary workspace in 2022 and HR professionals must adapt. It is not only us, Ranjit Atwal, senior research director at Gartner, validates this trend by saying "Through 2024, organizations will be forced to bring forward digital transformation of business plans by at least five years. Those plans will have to adapt to a post-COVID-19 world that involves permanently higher adoption of remote work and digital touchpoints." His words support the trend of the business world moving towards remote and hybrid workspaces in the years to come.

TechDogs' Opinion: We’re no stranger to the remote or hybrid work model, being part of similar setups over the last couple of years due to the social distancing regulations. However, moving ahead, businesses will look to leverage remote working to reduce operational expenses, boost productivity and improve employee benefits. Remote or hybrid workforces will also add more flexibility to the workforce and HR representatives will need to be ready for this change.

Moreover, we expect that remote and hybrid work models will mean a greater reliance on cloud-based systems for carrying out day-to-day admin work. HR teams working remotely will hence need access to more robust tools for communication and collaboration. Organizations will also need to ensure that HR platforms such as Employee Self-Service (ESS) or Learning Management Systems (LMS) are not affected by this change.

Trend 2: Artificial Intelligence Will Continue To Help With Recruitment

TechDogs-"Trend 2: Artificial Intelligence Will Continue To Help With Recruitment"-Office Space Meme Showing Hr Executive Asking Ai-Based Tools To Identify The Top Candidates
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has slowly become a part of our everyday life. So, it is no secret that AI even helped HR professionals in 2021 with recruitment and forecasting, something it will continue to do in 2022. This year, as more vacancies open in the market, businesses will need to make sure their HR teams have the best tools to identify and acquire talent – a major trend for HR Technology.

HR professionals were already using AI to filter resumes to find the most compatible employees for their business. However, in 2022, not only will AI be used for talent recognition, AI-based chatbots will be deployed to interact with applicants. Businesses can automate surveys and questionnaires with standard quizzes during the screening of candidates, which will greatly reduce the time HR professionals spend on interviews in 2022.

Don't believe us? A Gartner survey found out that roughly 47% of HR leaders will increase their investments in AI-based HR tools, while 51% of them will maintain their current rate of investments. Maybe if Toby had used an AI-based tool for work, Michael wouldn’t hate him so much!

TechDogs' Opinion: We believe that AI-driven tools will be the future of HR technologies. AI will have the ability to automate a lot of tasks that managers and HR teams would otherwise have to do manually. This will allow them to save time and instead focus on more creative aspects of the job. AI will also help in streamlining organizational tasks such as drafting correspondence to candidates, analyzing HR data to find trends or insights, forecasting churning of employees, etc.

Moreover, we expect that HR professionals will be among the few departments that will work with an AI voice assistant, instead of the AI-based tools working independently. These voice assistants will help the HR executives make decisions faster. Apart from taking notes and scheduling meetings, HR executives will be able to look up employee data faster through such assistants.

Trend 3: Cybersecurity Will Be Crucial For HR Folks

TechDogs-"Trend 3: Cybersecurity Will Be Crucial For HR Folks"-Classic Grumpy Cat Meme Saying "No Cybersecurity? That Makes Me Even Grumpier."
Can you name a few pros of working remotely? We are sure working in pajamas from your bed must be at the top of the list. However, the concept of remote work also has its share of cons - and cybersecurity threats top the list. Often, home networks are less secure than enterprise networks and a perfect target for cyber-criminals to siphon off sensitive business data. Hence, securing communication networks between businesses and remote workers will be a massive trend in 2022.

Businesses should note that HR professionals working remotely often handle confidential employee data, making them the prime target for hackers. Thus, it is vital than ever to create a secure communication channel for HR professionals by boosting cybersecurity initiatives. Moreover, with remote workforces to become more common in the coming years (Trend 1), this will undoubtedly be a significant HR Technology trend in 2022. #StaySecure

TechDogs' Opinion: In the spirit of transparency, it is not just malicious intent that can cause cybersecurity problems. Nearly 60 percent of fired employees steal important corporate data and roughly one in five breaches at work are attributed to careless employee management mistakes. Hence, we believe that this trend should extend to HR representatives being aware of what the employees are up to. If the HR department is vigilant, such threats can be neutralized before any real damage is done.

Furthermore, companies that wish to continue with remote or hybrid workforces will need to secure their enterprise networks. We expect HR software and tools in 2022 to take note of this trend and provide inbuilt end-to-end encryption to create a more secure work environment.

Trend 4: Most HR Processes Will Be Automated

TechDogs-"Trend 4: Most HR Processes Will Be Automated"-A Meme From Toy Story With Buzz Lightyear Telling Woody That Automation Is Everywhere.
How much time do you spend carrying out mundane tasks every day? Imagine if all those tasks could be automated so you have more time for productivity. No, gossiping about the Scranton Strangler is not productive, Toby! However, what is productive is automating HR processes, so they have more time to interact with employees, resolve issues, develop better employee wellbeing plans, etc.

Within the HR department itself, automation could free individuals to focus on more strategic HR functions such as discussing feedback and improving employee satisfaction. There will also be more time to interact with and guide new hires, so they can settle in better. HR teams can also concentrate on career planning and development, which can directly influence engagement and workforce retention. According to a survey by McKinsey Global Institute, current technology can automate 56% of all activities performed by the Human Resource departments. This number will grow substantially in years to come, thanks to better automation strategies and tools aimed at streamlining HR duties.

TechDogs' Opinion: We expect that a major chunk of HR activities will be automated in 2022. A critical aspect is that employees returning to workplaces will naturally crave human interaction and counsel to settle back into the physical workplace. This is where automation will enable HR executives to devote more time to employee engagement and strategic discussions.

Another factor is hyperautomation – the concept of automating what can be automated. Although the HR department has been overlooked in this aspect, in 2022, we believe that multiple technologies, including AI, Machine Learning, Predictive Analytics, Robotic Process Automation, etc. will power HR technologies. This will result in modern HR systems being much more efficient than the traditional systems.

Trend 5: Augmented Analytics Will Be The New Norm

TechDogs-"Trend 5: Augmented Analytics Will Be The New Norm" -Drake Hotline Bling Meme About Augmented Analytics
Imagine you have hired a hundred new employees (congratulations!) recently. However, a few months later, only 80 of them are still working with you - a few quit, some had a better opportunity elsewhere and one of them turned out to be the Scranton Strangler, so you had to fire him! Our point is that employees leave for several different reasons and identifying the reason for their attrition can be cumbersome. This is where Augmented Analytics comes into the picture!

Augmented Analytics leverages technologies such as Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing to augment the process of data analytics. It assists in data preparation, insight generation and visualization, making it easier for users to understand the data at hand. Hence, integrating Augmented Analytics to produce faster and more powerful data insights will be a top HR trend in 2022.

In fact, the Augmented Analytics market is expected to cross $22 billion in the next six years, which shows that it is growing at a staggering pace of 25.2% every year. Augmented HR Analytics will empower business leaders to efficiently analyze their workforce data and optimize their operational efficiency in 2022.

TechDogs' Opinion: We believe that as the global data collection initiatives grow, data analytics tools will have to evolve to keep up. This is where Augmented Analytics will play a key role for various business verticals, especially Human Resources. As the economy regains its pre-pandemic level, more jobs will be created, leading to more candidates in the hiring pool. Augmented Analytics will allow businesses to seamlessly filter out the most relevant candidates, helping them save time spent on evaluating resumes and interviewing potential applicants.

Augmented Analytics tools will also help businesses optimize HR processes by producing faster, easier and more robust data insights. As technologies such as Machine Learning, Deep Learning and Natural Language Processing (NLP) advance, we expect Augmented Analytics to cement its place in HR departments as the go-to for insight generation.
