Crunch! Are you ready to get a bite of some exciting news from Apple?

According to a recent report, the tech giant Apple is venturing into the world of artificial intelligence (AI). It is planning to launch a rumored AI chatbot, dubbed AppleGPT, which has investors cheering as its shares soared 2% to set a record high!

John Giannandrea, Apple's head of machine learning and AI and Craig Federighi, the top software engineering executive, lead the charge in this AI endeavor. Together, they are spearheading several teams to make Apple's AI dreams a reality.

Now, you might be wondering how exactly Apple plans to peel off this new move!

  • Well, the report says, they seem to be taking a page from the books of OpenAI's ChatGPT and Google's Bard. The company has been hard at work on its own AI offering, Apple GPT and has even developed its very own framework called "Ajax."

  • This nifty framework is the driving force behind Apple's creation of large language models (LLMs). That's not all!

  • Some of their products, like Apple Photos and the on-device texting features, have already subtly embraced advanced AI technology. Besides, let's not forget Apple's very own Siri and its recently launched mixed-reality headset, Vision Pro, which undoubtedly boasts some cool AI elements.

No wonder Siri might be a bit "app-"rehensive but why this sudden shift in Apple's perception toward AI?

  • It's worth noting that Apple has been a bit cautious with AI in the past. It has even restricted its employees from using AI tools like OpenAI's ChatGPT due to concerns about the leakage or collection of confidential information.

  • Now, experts believe that Apple might lag slightly behind its peers in fully incorporating this cutting-edge technology. Even Siri's once-revolutionary voice assistant has plateaued over the years.

  • Moreover, according to a survey by Statista, 73 percent of respondents reported using generative artificial intelligence tools, such as chatbots, as a part of their company's work. Only 17 percent of American marketing professionals were not using generative AI tools!

  • So, it can be said given the importance of generative AI, Apple has finally planned to join the race by introducing its player – AppleGPT – to the market!

Surprisingly, amidst the tale-tell signs of this chatbot, shares of Microsoft, Nvidia and Alphabet took a slight dip, proving that Apple's AI ambitions are not to be taken lightly!

Are you excited to try out Apple GPT once it has made an entry into the market? Let us know in the comments section below.
