Wipro To Modernize JLP’s IT Infrastructure As GenAI Beckons
Updated on Mon, Aug 26, 2024
The move would allow Wipro to boost innovation and productivity by leveraging Google’s Gemini generative AI models and Vertex AI to enhance its offerings to clients.
One of the key aspects of the deal was to accelerate the delivery of innovative GenAI solutions, which was found to be a key element driving cloud investments as per a study conducted by Wipro’s FullStride Cloud.
Now, Wipro is partnering with the John Lewis Partnership, the company behind some of Britain's best-loved retail brands spanning department stores, supermarkets, banking and financial services and more, to transform its IT infrastructure as the GenAI wave continues revolutionizing industries.
So, what did the two companies reveal about their new deal? Let’s explore!
What Is The Wipro And John Lewis Partnership About?
-
Through a press release published on its website, Wipro announced that it was selected by the John Lewis Partnership AKA JLP to transform and modernize JLP’s IT infrastructure.
-
The move builds on a previous agreement signed in 2020, which also focused on providing infrastructure services, which was intended to support its changed business strategy, enabling it to respond faster to the digital expectations of customers.
-
The new move will enable the UK-based retailer to future-proof its business to drive ongoing, sustainable growth, amid a wide range of changes in the IT landscape.
-
The partnership will see Wipro leverage its recent strategic partnership expansion with Google Cloud through Wipro FullStride Cloud. This will include extending JLP’s current cloud infrastructure, Network and End user services for another four years.
-
Furthermore, Wipro’s FullStride Cloud team will collaborate with JLP and Google Cloud, transforming their X86 platform to the cloud.
-
The move will bring agility, optimize operating costs and streamline business operations to unlock new business value, while the two companies scope out innovative solutions to propel JLP’s retail technology offering and store modernization.
-
The move becomes all the more vital considering 54% of surveyed respondents said AI was a key driver leading their cloud investments, as per Wipro FullStride Cloud’s study, “The Pulse of Cloud: Quarterly Report July 2024”
-
Investments remain high as organizations prepare for an AI-driven future, with the investments in hybrid (54%) and public (56%) cloud increasing.
-
On the other hand, 55% also said their cloud adoption is more than their AI adoption, while 35% are building both technologies synonymously.
-
As per Jo Debecker, Managing Partner and Global Head of Wipro FullStride Cloud, “The importance of an effective cloud strategy is only amplified with the increasing focus on AI.”
-
“The cloud’s scalability and processing power are critical in holding and managing the huge volumes of reference data required by AI. As such, cloud investment decisions are increasingly being driven by the need to support AI.”
What Did Wipro And John Lewis Partnership Executives Say?
-
Omkar Nisal, UKI Managing Director, Wipro Limited said, “We’re delighted to be expanding our work with the John Lewis Partnership. Enabling them to modernize and future-proof their business speaks to our deep understanding of their needs from our long-term engagement with them.”
-
[Contd.] “Through Wipro FullStride Cloud, our deep industry experience, and our vast technology expertise we are helping JLP build a bespoke modernization program that will realize their business ambitions.”
