Will VMware And Nvidia's Partnership Revolutionize Customized Business AI?
Updated on Tue, Aug 22, 2023
Well, there’s always something new happening!
This time around, VMware and Nvidia are teaming up to satisfy the needs of businesses that want in on the artificial intelligence revolution.
Let's get down to business and start by asking, "What is Generative AI?"
Well, according to Boston Consulting Group, it refers to a collection of algorithms that can extrapolate from training data and produce fresh, convincing material, including text, graphics, code and audio. The most effective generative AI algorithms are constructed upon foundation models that are self-supervised and trained on a massive amount of unlabeled data to discover patterns in datasets which can be used to create new data.
One such foundation model that may be used for question answering, summarising text and even sentiment analysis is GPT-3.5, which was trained on massive amounts of text. DALL-E is another text-to-image foundation model that can be used to generate new images, enlarge old ones or generate new iterations of existing works of art.
These new applications of generative AI have the potential to significantly speed up AI adoption, especially in businesses that don't have specialists or data scientists. Adopting a generative AI model for a specific activity is possible with relatively low quantities of data through APIs provided by technology companies. However, major customization still necessitates knowledge and in-house skills.
It's no surprise that companies like VMware and Nvidia are joining together to supply this demand for artificial intelligence in the market!
Let's get down to the nitty-gritty of VMware's and Nvidia's market penetration strategies.
VMware Inc announced that it has partnered with Nvidia Corp to create a new suite of software tools for companies to help them build generative AI in-house rather than on the cloud.
Nvidia processors, which are used extensively in AI systems, dominate the market and with AI adoption on the rise, their business has been growing by the day. The business also launched a new set of tools to manage these chips, enabling more precise and swift AI development and deployment.
VMware CEO Raghu Raghuram told Reuters that companies are interested in the technology for a wide variety of uses, including speeding up the drafting of content, software code and legal contracts. Some VMware clients, however, choose to process particularly sensitive data locally on their own servers for security reasons. This is where this partnership excels in supplying to an existing demand for on-premises custom AI solutions. (On the other hand, companies such as Microsoft and Google provide cloud-based solutions.)
VMware CEO Raghu Raghuram further said, "Imagine a common use case: I want it to read all my legal contracts so I can generate new contracts faster. Obviously, that is going to be super, super secretive - you don't want that data escaping anywhere," Raghuram said.
VMware said the new tools will be available next year but the company declined to say how it will be priced other than saying that the cost will be based on how many Nvidia chips the customer uses.
