Will Technology Take Your Job Or Make It Easier For You?

This came in handy when the world needed to resort to remote work (or remote work from resorts). A lot of these practices are still adopted even after the need for remote working was gone and we returned to our extremely comfortable and scenic offices and cubicles (sarcasm intended).
According to new research, only 50% of employees believe technology is an asset for efficiency.
Despite its widescale acceptance, some remain worried about technology in the workforce and its implications for replacement or unemployment. Especially considering the potential power of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML).
Additionally, interestingly, while IT teams are responsible for the implementation of innovative technologies in their organizations, it is believed that IT optimization will see an annual growth rate of 29.7% and be the third-largest AI use case by 2025. Do IT teams need to be worried?
Of course, pop culture doesn’t help much with the way it pushes AI to replace human jobs. PWC reports, 37% of workers think they could lose their job to automation.

However, it’s the opposite that’s believed. Technology will most likely help IT teams and corporates!
#dontworry
Especially given how South Korea, probably the most automated country, fared. They saw record-low unemployment in August 2022. Add Singapore and Japan to the list. Two countries that are highly automated nations and possess unemployment rates below the global average.
Essentially, this shows that automation and unemployment aren’t correlated!
AI and ML’s accuracy and speed can free human employees from routine tasks to focus on more productive tasks like developing new applications to benefit organizations internally or as products. Additionally, it can help in quicker security detections.
Pieter den Hamer, VP of Artificial Intelligence at Gartner Research, says, “Every job will be impacted by AI. Most of that will be more augmentation rather than replacing workers.”

The inclusion of AI and ML is inevitable. That doesn’t necessarily mean it pushes humans out, especially since humans prefer dealing with other humans when facing issues. In fact, it poses to be an advantageous add-on that can help companies achieve more!
