  • Moreover, 67% reported an inability to gather any usable data for enhanced business insights, painting a stark picture of the data-related challenges faced by the retail industry.

  • In a landscape where innovation is the key to success, a whopping 70% of retailers recognize the critical role of AI-powered retail management systems.

  • However, the road to widespread adoption is laden with challenges, with certain processes experiencing minimal AI usage, utilized by less than 20% of respondents, as revealed by the study commissioned by Epicor, a leading enterprise software provider.

  • The study emphasizes the prevalence of data silos as a top implementation challenge. With 70% of surveyed retailers expressing the need for more education around AI solutions and 65% grappling to keep pace with the rapid evolution of AI technologies, there is a clear call for a strategic approach to upskilling and staying abreast of the latest developments.

  • Marco de Vries, Vice President of Product Marketing at Epicor, advises retailers to take the first step by gaining a better understanding of the AI landscape and addressing underlying data quality and collection issues.

  • He underscores the importance of investment in proper data infrastructure, governance and internal education to unlock the full potential of AI.
