Buckle up, folks! Tesla is back in the headlines!

Of course, the issue has to do with autonomous mobility, or self-driving cars? Let’s begin!

UCS defines self-driving vehicles as cars in which human drivers are never required to take control to safely operate the vehicle. Also known as autonomous or driverless cars, they combine sensors and software to control, navigate and drive the vehicle.

Recently, a security researcher going by the handle "@GreentheOnly" discovered a hidden setting in Tesla vehicles that, once activated, allows drivers to use Tesla's advertised Autopilot and Full Self-Driving (FSD) systems while taking their hands off the wheel for short periods of time.

Activating this setting in a Tesla vehicle disables the annoying prompts that previous owners called the "nag." Even while the researcher dubbed the new feature "Elon Mode," he clarified that this is not the official name used within the firm.

Here is Mr. Musk's tweet announcing he will stop the "nag" for select Tesla owners in the new year. That strategy was never implemented. Although he did tweet, "We are gradually reducing it, proportionate to improved safety."

Whoa! Hold your horses: rumour has it that despite the awesomeness of the features, safety concerns are buzzing around Tesla.

According to CNBC, the “white hat hacker" said, "Unless you work at Tesla, or otherwise have access to relevant databases at the company," there is no way to tell how many cars have "Elon Mode" available now.

In February, Tesla voluntarily recalled 362,758 vehicles in the United States for safety concerns with its Full Self-Driving Beta system (FSD). (This was the second recall of its kind.) To fix the problems, Tesla released a software upgrade remotely.

The safety recall report stated that vehicles equipped with the FSD Beta system at the time could "act unsafe around intersections," such as "traveling straight through an intersection while in a turn-only lane, entering a stop sign-controlled intersection without coming to a complete stop, or proceeding into the intersection during a steady yellow traffic signal without due caution."

While it promises groundbreaking innovation, the burning question remains: Is the tech truly safe? Will Tesla's self-driving tech drive us into the future?
