Microsoft Is Abandoning Twitter From Its Advertising Platforms. But Why?
Updated on Fri, Apr 21, 2023
Surprisingly the news has come in the spotlight right after two months after Twitter's announcements that it will begin charging a minimum of $42,000 per month to users of its API, which include enterprises and research institutions. #TheControversyBegins
"Starting on April 25, 2023, Smart Campaigns with Multi-platform will no longer support Twitter. As of April 25, 2023, you'll be unable to: Access your Twitter account through our social management tool, Create and manage drafts or Tweets, View past Tweets and engagement, and Schedule Tweets," the report says.
The same report states, "With its $2.15 trillion market cap and roughly $100 billion cash on hand at the end of last year, Microsoft obviously has the money to pay Twitter what it wants." The move is a bit of a statement, even as Microsoft has refused to explain further about its decision.
On the contrary, the report highlights a reason for this heated situation between Microsoft and Twitter, which has something to do with the past. #FlashbackTime
Microsoft has invested billions of dollars into OpenAI, founded by Musk in 2015. Musk left the venture and continued criticizing OpenAI's ChatGPT – which might have fuelled the whole situation! #PresentContinuesMakingSituationTense
The news is not over yet - as here comes Elon Musk's power move on this whole story. According to the report, the billionaire is all set to take legal action against the American Multinational corporation. Musk took to Twitter on this entire incident and claimed that Microsoft is "trained illegally using Twitter data." Besides, according to Twitter’s new pricing agreement, reputed names like Microsoft could have to pay a whopping $42,000 per month to gain access to Twitter’s API.
Nevertheless, it will be worth seeing Microsoft's reply to Twitter and only time will tell who will win this war. #LetsWaitForWhatsNext
