Overall Rating
During Meta's latest earnings call, company CEO Mark Zuckerberg spoke about the company's performance and achievements during the year.

"We had strong business performance in 2025," said Mark Zuckerberg, Meta founder and CEO. "I'm looking forward to advancing personal superintelligence for people around the world in 2026."

Meta posted a 22% increase in reveneue across 2025 as compared to 2024, entering the $200 billion club thanks to a surge in AI-powered ads.

However, it's net income dropped 3%, shrinking from $62.3 billion in 2024 to $60.4 billion in 2025. At the same time, the figure rose when considering the numbers for the fourth quarter (October 1 - December 31): going from Q4-2024's $20.8 billion to Q4-2025's $22.7 billion, marking a 9% increase.

Alongside this, he revealed that the company will release a wide range of artificial intelligence (AI) models, tools, and products in 2026, positioned as an exciting new chapter for the company that's set to reshape how users experience Meta’s platforms.

With significant investments in AI, Meta is positioning itself to lead the charge in AI-powered commerce, smart wearables, and personalized user experiences.

TL;DR

  • Meta will launch new AI models and tools starting in 2026, including agentic commerce features.
  • These tools will focus on delivering highly personalized shopping experiences to users.
  • Meta is significantly increasing its AI infrastructure spending, with a $115–135 billion budget for 2026.

New AI Models On The Horizon

Zuckerberg shared Meta's commitment to AI innovation. He highlighted the company’s recent restructuring of its AI lab, signaling that Meta's AI models are set for a major upgrade in the months to come.

While Zuckerberg did not provide specific product timelines or names, he revealed that Meta is focusing on delivering new AI tools that are tailored to improve user experiences. A key area of focus for Meta will be AI-driven commerce.

According to Zuckerberg, Meta's new AI models will allow users to seamlessly find products from businesses within Meta's ecosystem, enhancing the shopping experience with personalized recommendations. This aligns with broader industry trends where other tech giants like Google and OpenAI have also begun offering AI-powered shopping assistants.

Agentic AI And The Future Of Commerce

Zuckerberg emphasized the potential of "agentic shopping tools" that will allow users to find exactly the products they are looking for, through Meta’s catalog. These agentic AI tools are expected to revolutionize the way people shop online by deeply integrating into users' personal contexts—understanding their history, interests, and social relationships.

Unlike other AI platforms that focus on general recommendations, Meta believes its access to vast amounts of personal data gives it a distinct advantage in offering more relevant and tailored experiences.

Meta’s acquisition of Manus, a company specializing in general-purpose agent technology, will further fuel these efforts. As part of the integration, Meta aims to refine its agent-based AI tools, ensuring that they are as personalized as possible for each user.

Increased Investment In AI Infrastructure

Meta revealed plans to increase its capital expenditures to between $115 billion and $135 billion in 2026, up from $72 billion in 2025. This dramatic rise in spending is part of Meta's strategy to build out the infrastructure necessary to support its AI and superintelligence efforts.

While some investors have expressed concerns over the company's ability to show immediate returns, Zuckerberg remains confident that these investments will pay off in the long term.

Meta will continue to develop AI tools at a rapid pace throughout 2026, with strategic spending focused on advancing Meta Superintelligence Labs and ensuring that the company can deliver on its bold AI ambitions in the coming year.

Reality Labs And The Struggles In VR

Despite Zuckerberg's optimism about AI, Meta's Reality Labs division, which focuses on virtual reality (VR) and mixed reality (MR) technologies, continues to face challenges.

In 2025, Reality Labs posted a $19.1 billion loss, slightly more than the previous year’s losses.

In response, Meta has reassessed its VR focus, and while investments are still ongoing, the company is beginning to pivot towards AI-driven wearables, which Zuckerberg sees as the next major frontier.

While Meta’s VR division has struggled over the past few years, Zuckerberg feels a shift toward AI and wearables would eventually lead to a profitable ecosystem.

The company’s wearable technologies, including AI-powered smart glasses, are already gaining traction, with sales of Meta’s smart glasses tripling in the last year.

Meta’s smart glasses initiative is another area where the company hopes to make a significant impact. Meta’s collaboration with eyewear brands such as Ray-Ban and Oakley has led to the launch of several smart glasses models, which are being used for hands-free communication, real-time translation, and even photo and video capture.

“Billions of people wear glasses or contacts for vision correction. And I think that we’re at a moment similar to when smartphones arrived, and it was clearly only a matter of time until all those flip phones became smartphones. It’s hard to imagine a world in several years where most glasses that people wear aren’t AI glasses,” Zuckerberg said.

Meta’s Vision For 2026 And Beyond

Zuckerberg’s vision is clear: Meta will be at the forefront of AI innovation, delivering personalized superintelligence that will transform how people interact with products, services, and even each other.

To achieve this, the company is striving to combine its vast infrastructure with cutting-edge AI capabilities to bring users and businesses alike more intuitive and powerful tools.

As Meta heads into this new era, it is clear that the company is positioning itself not just as a leader in social media, but as a major player in the AI revolution.
