One… Two…Three…
Did you use Threads? How has your experience been with this new social media app? Did you add your Threads profile to your Instagram account?
Okay, that's more than one question but isn't it worth it? Given the hype and attention Threads has been enjoying since its launch, isn't that an obvious question!
Well, Threads is making waves in the social media world with yet another piece of news! A recent report says Meta is all set to enahnce Threads with many more exciting features to compete with Twitter.
- According to Instagram's head, Adam Mosseri, Threads is contemplating adding a fresh home feed option. This new feed would exclusively display posts in chronological order from the people you follow.
- The Instagram supremo has also hinted at several other features on the horizon, such as an ability to edit posts, translate into different languages and easily switch between different Threads accounts.
Now, let's discuss how these features will help Threads to compete with Twitter!
- When Threads first launched, Meta, the parent company, expressed plans to connect it with other social media platforms like Mastodon, using the Fediverse.
- Besides, there are a bunch of things that make Threads stand apart from Twitter. To begin with, Threads allow its users to post captions with 500 characters, whereas Twitter has a limit of 250 characters. Threads also enable users to post videos 5 minutes long while Twitter allows users to post videos with only 2.20 minutes.
- The best feature is 'verification,' which has been a pain point for #Twitteratis! However, Threads allows users to get a verified account via Instagram! Bazinga!

Let’s see which hurdles Threads is yet to cross with regards to its features:
- One noticeable difference is the absence of a search function. The company has promised to introduce a robust search feature and enhance its recommended post-selection. They're all about fine-tuning your browsing experience!
- Besides, Twitter steps in with some fantastic features such as direct messaging, scrolling trending stories and getting a quick look at the trending hashtags. For now, Threads is missing out on these features! #MajorFOMO
- Another hiccup users have faced is the inability to delete a Threads profile without deleting the associated Instagram account. Thankfully, the company has heard the concerns and is working to fix them.
Currently, Threads is ad-free and people have mixed feelings about it. While some appreciate the absence of pesky ads, others wonder if this will change in the future. However, only time will tell if Threads can compete with a social networking giant like Twitter.
Do you think these features will help Threads strengthen its bond with the users? Add your thoughts in the comments section below!
