The digital age has brought about a revolution for manufacturing companies, as it has introduced numerous technologies that have made their processes simpler, quicker, and more efficient.

This includes technologies such as digital twins, simulation software, 3D modeling, 3D printing, augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and others.

At the center of all these technologies is French multinational company Dassault Systèmes—a subsidiary of Dassault Group—which is a leader in virtual twin experiences and developer of software for 3D product design, simulation, manufacturing, and more.

This includes its flagship products, SOLIDWORKS and 3DEXPERIENCE.

SOLIDWORKS brings millions of designers, engineers, and businesses around the world a powerful, easy-to-use 2D and 3D CAD (computer-aided design), CAE (computer-aided engineering), product data management, and product development solution.

3DEXPERIENCE allows companies to create and visualize virtual twins of products, processes, and operations, from cars to cities to human hearts and other complex systems through science-based modeling and simulation.

Recently, Dassault Systèmes announced 3DEXPERIENCE World 2025, its annual event dedicated to the SOLIDWORKS and 3DEXPERIENCE platform user community, would be held in Houston, Texas, from February 23 to 26, 2025. The event will be attended by thousands of designers, engineers, entrepreneurs, business leaders, makers, and students keen on discovering the latest technologies, trends, and strategies.

Through the event, the company updated the world about its newest partnerships, products, and plans.

This included a partnership with Apple to integrate its Vision Pro mixed reality headset into Dassault’s next-generation 3DEXPERIENCE platform. This will be powered by spatial computing technology and Apple Vision Pro’s advanced cameras, sensors, and tracking, which will provide users with a new dimension to virtual twin experiences.

It will be delivered through Dassault’s upcoming 3DLive visionOS app, which will allow users to experience virtual twins created on the 3DEXPERIENCE in their physical space, enabling real-time visualization and team collaboration in lifelike environments.

“We’re thrilled to be collaborating with Dassault Systèmes to supercharge the 3DEXPERIENCE platform with spatial computing capabilities that will enable engineers and designers to effortlessly bring 3D designs to life in ways not previously possible,” said Mike Rockwell, Apple’s vice president of the Vision Products Group.

The partnership aims to enable customers to achieve scientifically accurate product quality, accelerate workforce training, collaborate, and share knowledge and know-how.

Dassault Systèmes further announced the release of a new Apple Vision Pro app—HomeByMe Reality—that will allow users to imagine, explore, and visualize their home interior and options, experience furniture stores, and tour real estate properties virtually.

Dassault Systèmes also announced the launch of SOLIDWORKS CPQ, its new configure, price, and quote solution, which will be deployed on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

The new CPQ solution will integrate generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) capabilities that allow users to quickly define and design a portfolio of configurable and customizable products with precise quotes. This will also allow design teams to explore material selection, structural integrity, availability, cost, and more, ensuring they select the optimal choices quickly and easily.

“SOLIDWORKS CPQ builds upon the 30 years of innovation that have made 3D design simple and powerful,” said Manish Kumar, CEO, SOLIDWORKS, Dassault Systèmes. “With this new business solution, we’re expanding our scope and reaching new audiences by introducing a complete software ecosystem for manufacturing with next-generation technologies that work together in an integrated, effortless way.”

To propel robotics and automation efficiency for manufacturers, Dassault Systèmes revealed it was partnering with KUKA, a global industrial automation and robotics company.

This deal will see Dassault Systèmes join mosaixx—KUKA’s digital ecosystem for industrial software solutions—which will offer KUKA’s customers an easy way to purchase and use Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform and applications.

The idea is to drive more efficient and adaptable solutions for robotics and automation companies, transforming their operations.

“Our collaboration with Dassault Systèmes enables us to expand our mosaixx portfolio with industry-leading virtual twin technology. Engineers can carry out simulations and analyses with real-time data while streamlined collaboration empowers system integrators with flexible applications for enhanced adaptability and innovation,” said Quirin Goerz, CEO, KUKA Digital.

“This [move] will open up new possibilities for customers to benefit from the virtual world and collaborate and innovate in diverse sectors such as automotive, aerospace, electronics, metalworking, logistics, healthcare, and more,” said Gian Paolo Bassi, SVP, Customer Role Experience, Dassault Systèmes.

Ahead of this, Dassault Systèmes announced that its subsidiary Centric Software, a leader in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), signed an agreement to acquire Contentserv, a provider of product information management (PIM) and product experience management (PXM) solutions to over 1600 customers in 90 countries.

As per the agreement, Dassault will acquire Contentserv for an enterprise value of €220 million or around $230 million.

Centric Software enables retailers, brands, and manufacturers to plan, design, develop, source, price and sell products such as apparel, fashion, home, footwear, sporting goods, consumer electronics, cosmetics, food & beverage, and luxury to achieve strategic and operational digital transformation goals.

“By integrating Contentserv into the Centric family of solutions—from PLM to planning to competitive market intelligence, pricing & inventory optimization and visual boards – brands, retailers, and manufacturers can seamlessly turn product content into enriched, market-ready experiences that drive engagement and conversion,” said Chris Groves, CEO of Centric Software.

Do you think these moves will help Dassault Systèmes outperform its competitors?
