ChatGPT, Roku & KAYAK Get AI Feature Updates As Ant Launches 1 Trillion Model
Updated on Fri, Oct 17, 2025
From simple gadgets that could function without the infusion of AI technology, to software suites and services that benefit greatly from its inclusion, enabling them to deliver more personalized experiences.
At the same time, AI companies catering generative AI (GenAI) chatbots continue to compete to develop and deploy the latest and most advanced models, while keeping customization in mind.
This is what OpenAI CEO Sam Altman was aiming for when he provided an update on ChatGPT’s upcoming update.
ChatGPT’s New Update
“In a few weeks, we plan to put out a new version of ChatGPT that allows people to have a personality that behaves more like what people liked about 4o (we hope it will be better!),” said Altman.
The move came as the company, and Altman, recognized that they had made its latest model, GPT-5, “pretty restrictive to make sure we were being careful with mental health issues.” This change made the new model less useful or enjoyable to many users, especially those who had no mental health problems—still, the company stands behind the decision.
OpenAI’s plan is to safely relax restrictions in the next release, expected in December, and roll out “age-gating" in a more complete manner, bringing very human-like responses relevant to a user’s age. Also, as part of its “treat adult users like adults” principle, future models will allow even more, including erotica for verified adults.
Meanwhile, OpenAI’s latest model and its capabilities are being challenged by Ant Group’s latest model.
Ant Group’s Ring-1T
Recently, the Ant Ling AI Model Family was unveiled, and it included Ling-1T, a trillion-parameter general-purpose large language model that serves as the flagship non-thinking model in the Ling family.
According to the company, the Ling-1T achieved an accuracy of 70.42% at an average cost of over 4,000 output tokens per problem—on the AIME benchmark—seeing it perform on par (in some cases outperform) with best-in-class AI models. It even made it to the top of Hugging Face's trending leaderboard.
With the latest launch of models, the family consists of three main series: the Ling non-thinking models, the Ring thinking models, and the multimodal Ming series.
Ant also spoke about the release of Ring-1T, the open-source 1 trillion (total) 50 billion (active) parameter, thinking model built on the Ling 2.0 architecture, and said this deep thinking model is still in training and continuously evolving.
“We aim to further unlock its reasoning potential and improve alignment and efficiency under long contexts,” said Ant.
Roku’s Fresh New Features
Roku Media’s voice assistant is getting an upgrade, turning from a simple command tool into a smart AI-powered guide.
Users can now ask Roku Voice questions about movies, shows, and actors and see the answers right on their TV, including questions such as “What’s Barbie about?”; “How scary is The Shining?”; “What kind of fish is Nemo?”; and a lot more.
Users can also ask follow-up questions and get answers without the need to reach for their phone, laptop, or other devices. The new feature is purpose-built for streaming, helping users find what they want to watch faster, smarter, and right on their TV.
Roku is also bringing in the new Ways to Watch button that allows users to watch movies right from the preview, instead of fiddling around after watching a trailer.
Users will be able to access Roku’s recently launched Search option—which initially came to the What to Watch destination—in more places, including Live TV Zone and Live TV Channel Guide, soon.
“With Search, you can quickly track down your go-to channels, explore new genres, or jump straight to shows and movies whether they’re live, trending, or on-demand. It’s a simpler way to search and just a click away.”
Ahead of this, users will be able to see where to stream each title, cutting out the need for extra clicks, with up to two streaming apps highlighted under each title—based on a user’s active subscriptions.
For sports watchers, Roku is rolling out two new features—Live Scores and Reminders—with live scores and results from multiple sporting events appearing on game tiles (can be hidden). Reminders will notify users with a mobile notification.
Speaking of its mobile app, users will now be one tap away from shortcuts such as Closed Captions, Find My Remote, Sleep Timer, Daily Trivia, and more.
All this came as Roku launched a new initiative—showcasing original programming on the platform, beginning with “Live from Roku City,” which transforms Roku’s iconic screensaver into a stage for music, original storytelling, and interactive programming.
It will kick off with Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum recording artist Demi Lovato and include features such as behind-the-scenes videos, exclusive photos, Demi Lovato’s personal streaming recommendations, and a pre-save option for Lovato’s new album.
“With ‘Live from Roku City’ we’re doubling down on so much of what makes our platform special. Roku delivers TV’s broadest reach environment, and with the addition of original video storytelling for the first time in Roku City, we’re also providing TV’s biggest stage,” said Charlie Collier, President of Roku Media.
The media giant also unveiled the new Vankyo Roku TV Smart Projector H500R.
Roku also announced the launch of its connected TV (CTV) advertising platform in Brazil, bringing brand access to millions of streaming viewers and marking a major step in the company’s international growth strategy.
KAYAK’s AI Mode:
KAYAK, a globally leading travel search engine, announced the launch of AI Mode, a natural-language search experience that combines KAYAK’s data with ChatGPT to deliver smarter, contextual results, right on the home page.
“We launched KAYAK.ai in April for our software engineers to test cutting-edge AI capabilities. AI Mode is the first feature to graduate to our main site,” said Steve Hafner, KAYAK’s CEO. “Travelers aren’t limited to preset entry fields anymore. Just tell us what you’re looking for in plain language, and we’ll answer the same way.”
AI Mode is available in English on KAYAK via desktop and mobile browsers in the U.S. The company plans to roll out more languages and countries soon, along with availability on additional platforms, including voice entry.
KAYAK debuted its AI Mode at the perfect time, as the company notes that mid-October through early November is the prime window for scoring the best holiday travel deals.
