CES 2025 was held earlier this month, and we witnessed a wide range of new consumer products, announcements, and prototypes that gave us a better understanding of what the technology world has in store for us in the coming year and beyond.

The event spanned various products that were powered by AI, as well as some weird and whacky ones, some practical and peculiar ones, some wholesome and wonderful ones, some super-cool gadgets, and some interesting inventions and innovations.

Not to forget all the magic that transpired on Media Day, along with its showstopper announcement courtesy of NVIDIA (the reveal of its new GeForce RTX 50 GPU series).

However, just because the world’s most exciting and biggest consumer electronics show has concluded, doesn’t mean that innovation in the tech industry stops.

Recently, French consumer electronics company Avenir Telecom and Japanese multinational technology company Fujitsu revealed their new series of laptops, each coming with unique characteristics that offer them an edge over their competitors.

Avenir Telecom’s Energizer EnergyBook Classic Laptops

Avenir Telecom is known mainly for designing and developing batteries. Yet, in the last few years, the company has produced a variety of other products, including smartphones, feature phones AKA dumbphones, and mobile accessories, all under the exclusive worldwide Energizer license.

Now, the company is stepping into the world of laptops with its new Energizer EnergyBook Classic laptop range.

Its USP? Surprisingly low prices.

In fact, the base model of its new series is just $199.

The Energizer EnergyBook Classic laptop range will be available from Q1 2025 and will offer consumers a few configuration options—a 15-inch screen with 8GB RAM / 256GB storage, and a 17-inch screen with 4GB RAM / 128GB storage or 8GB RAM / 256GB storage.

As per reports, the device comes with two USB Type-A ports, one USB Type-C port, one HDMI port, two 3.5mm audio jacks, and an SD card reader.

As per a post published by the company, the new laptops are reliable and long-lasting, fitted with energy-efficient components, are “engineered to meet the diverse needs of users, students, casual users and professionals alike”, and are “designed with eco-friendly materials and are offered in 100% recyclable packaging, reducing their environmental impact”.

Fujitsu’s FMV Note U Laptops

A well-known and respected name in the world of consumer electronics for a long time, Fujitsu revealed a new series of ultra-lightweight laptops.

As per the company, its new laptops are the lightest laptops with Copilot+ in the world.

Its base model weighs just 848g (1.87 pounds), while laptops in the series with custom configurations can end up weighing up to 20g more, i.e. 868g (1.91 pounds). This beats Asus’ 980g (2.1 pounds) Zenbook A14, which was launched at CES 2025.

However, its low weight doesn’t compromise its durability.

According to Fujitsu, the laptop should be able to handle day-to-day stresses, strains, and impacts, including being dropped from a desk, vibration, pressure, humidity, extremes of temperature, high altitudes, and so on.

Fujitsu’s new FMV Note U, which is currently only available in Japan, also features a 14-inch screen, an Intel Core Ultra 7 chip (Lunar Lake), Wi-Fi 7, and up to 36 hours of battery life. Buyers have the option to select between 16GB or 32GB of RAM, and 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, or 2TB of storage.

The 17.3mm thick laptop also comes with Thunderbolt 4 ports, two USB-A ports, an HDMI port, an Ethernet jack, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a microSD slot.

To recap, Copilot+ PCs are equipped with an NPU (Neural Processing Unit) that accelerates AI processing, allowing users to instantly generate images, and text, and perform more tasks such as generating live captions, instantly recalling what was going on the screen, as well as co-create, create and restyle images. All of this is done using local processing, which reduces cloud dependency and ensures security.
