Have you ever searched for a job on LinkedIn? Okay, let us rephrase - have you ever changed your status on LinkedIn to "Open to work"? Well, chances are pretty high as LinkedIn is long hailed as the go-to platform for professionals and job seekers alike.

According to a recent report, the same LinkedIn is facing a new challenger in the form of X, thanks to none other than Elon Musk!

Like almost every controversy related to Elon Musk, it all began with a tweet by Musk himself -, "People send me LinkedIn links sometimes, but the cringe level is so high that I just can't bring myself to use it, so I ask for the resume or bio to be emailed!"

Is it a tell-tale sign of LinkedIn's x-tinction? Well, only time will tell - let's see how Musk plans to dethrone LinkedIn.

  • It seems the tech giant is cooking up something big. The report highlights how Elon Musk teased a new job posting feature on a platform he refers to as "X." This feature is currently in testing but Musk envisions it becoming a full-fledged job networking platform.

  • The game-changer in question is X's job posting feature, currently accessible exclusively to verified businesses willing to pay a monthly subscription fee of $1,000. While LinkedIn has been a staple for job postings, X is poised to offer a fresh and, according to Musk, "cooler" alternative.

  • The same report says, that with the new feature, businesses can post up to five job listings on their profiles, attracting significant attention due to its nascent stage. Companies are flocking to X, anticipating a broader organic reach and more engaging interactions than the competition.

  • Elon Musk didn't stop at just introducing job postings; he hinted at a growing suite of job-related features to follow, promising a job search feature for the general public soon. Given Musk's track record of challenging and disrupting established norms, it's reasonable to anticipate that X could mount a serious challenge to LinkedIn's dominance.

Ahh! Musk and his world of x-cellency in everything. Now let's look at what will be its impact on LinkedIn.

  • Currently boasting 52 million active users for job-seeking purposes, Microsoft's LinkedIn has long reigned supreme as the world's largest professional networking platform. However, if X can deliver on its promises and provide job seekers with a more advantageous platform, it could attract users away from LinkedIn.

  • The report further states that users can visit verified business accounts and navigate to the section below the follower count to see the job postings on X. There; they'll discover job listings with direct application links, making the job search process smoother and more accessible.

In a nutshell, Elon Musk's latest venture, X, is making an x-traordinary move to challenge LinkedIn's dominance in the professional networking and job posting sphere.

Do you think, with a growing list of job-related features, X has the potential to disrupt the status quo? Would it be able to replace LinkedIn, one of the most trusted and linked social media platforms of all time?
