Move over TikTok, playtime now belongs to AI!

A tech expert recently said he would rather have his kids learn AI coding than dancing to viral tunes on TikTok.

When it comes to changing the way we live, work and create, Generative AI has the potential to follow in the footsteps of Siri and Alexa – becoming a household term.

Here is what Adam Singolda, CEO of internet advertising firm Taboola, told CNBC:

“The Creator of "Star Wars" George Lucas had a clear vision.” As Adam put it, "If you ask me, I'm predicting our kids will unwrap one heck of a Christmas gift this year, as talking robots, whether in the form of a small R2D2 or sleek golden 3PO powered by Generative AI, will be placed under the tree."

“I support Generative AI as a tech CEO and a dad. I'm not worried about my kids interacting with AI in playtime. Instead of learning about science, medicine and life hacks on TikTok, I'd rather they connect with AI to index reliable content.” said Taboola's CEO, Adam Singolda, who specializes in contextual web advertising.

Adam is not the only tech expert who prefers exposing the younger generation to AI rather than watching influencers on TikTok. Yet, there are some considerations; continue reading Adam Singolda's interview to understand them:

Generative AI Needs Training On Trusted Information

Generative AI applications rely on large language models (LLMs) that learn to construct conversation by mining the web for enormous amounts of data and making predictions about the next word that makes sense. It's reminiscent to Google's "auto-complete" feature during a search, or the "did you mean" feature but on steroids.

Spend enough time with generative AI and you'll realise it's already rather good! While it can appear educated when conversing with you on a wide range of topics it has some drawbacks.

Disinformation is being spread via various networks as Generative AI was trained using flawed data gathered from human activities. It's funny to question a chatbot like Google's Bard, "Did Anakin Skywalker fight Darth Vader?" and find out, "Yes, they fought three times." (That's hilarious because it's the same person.) #SpoilerAlert

Or it can do harm, like when you ask an AI, "Is sunscreen good for you?" and it responds "Maybe," because it was trained on inputs that arose following a viral TikTok hoax.

Generative AI Needs Attribution And Compensation For Sources

How information is indexed or sources are credited are essential questions for businesses using Generative AI applications.

Companies using Gen AI should standardize the data being indexed, the frequency with which it is indexed and the manner in which that data is used to produce solutions. More openness is required here, beyond simply citing references in the body of a response.
