The hackathon, which begins March 11, invites Java EE and Jakarta EE developers to design solutions that address the most pressing environmental, social and economic challenges. Therefore, the event will support the development of key technologies for a more sustainable and technologically advanced future. The main objective of this hackathon is to promote sustainable development by highlighting existing and new applications that address fundamental issues such as energy saving, waste reduction, sustainable agriculture and eco-friendly transportation. the environment.

In line with Payara's new slogan, "Power up your Jakarta EE", participants are encouraged to maximize the potential of Jakarta EE. The Hackathon aims to reward technical mastery in leveraging Jakarta EE features to create scalable, impactful and sustainable solutions. Participants will use the power of Jakarta EE, particularly the Jakarta EE Web Profile, as the basis for their applications, demonstrating the strength and versatility of Jakarta EE technologies. The chosen development platform is Payara Cloud, where participants will experience the simplicity, scalability and reliability of Jakarta EE application deployment.

Solutions will be evaluated by Java industry champions and Jakarta EE experts based on innovation, impact, relevance, technical proficiency and user experience, and will allow participants to present their original and effective solutions.

The winners will be announced in April. They will be highlighted on the Payara and Eclipse Foundation platforms, win monetary prizes and be able to present their solutions to an audience of Java users around the world.
