Mirantis Kubernetes Engine for k0rdent helps improve operational efficiency

CAMPBELL, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--#developers--Mirantis, the Kubernetes-native AI infrastructure company enabling enterprises to build and operate scalable, secure, and sovereign AI infrastructure across any environment, today announced the availability of Mirantis Kubernetes Engine for k0rdent (MKE 4k) 4.1.1, which reduces operational overhead, improves upgrade predictability, and provides consistency across regulated and multi-cloud infrastructure.

"MKE 4k makes it easier to manage multi-cluster infrastructure, streamline upgrades, and maintain control, especially in regulated or air-gapped settings," said Vivek Pandey, vice president of product engineering, Mirantis. "With Kubernetes-based infrastructure becoming more distributed and complex, platform teams need the ability to deploy, operate, and lifecycle manage more clusters than before, and potentially on more substrates: public clouds, private clouds, bare metal. MKE 4k 4.1.1 is a trusted, enterprise-ready Kubernetes cluster model that can manage an entire multi-cloud/multi-cluster Kubernetes IT estate from a single point of control."

MKE 4k integrates Mirantis k0rdent Enterprise 1.1.0, which facilitates deployment of MKE child clusters from a centralized management cluster to support uniform configuration and policy enforcement. This reduces the problem of configuration drift by continuously monitoring and correcting discrepancies. MKE enables the delivery of clusters that are ready for developers and production teams to use: complete, secure, equipped with standard beach-head services for backup, policy enforcement, monitoring and observability, cost analytics.

And, upgrade workflows have been improved for organizations transitioning from MKE 3, which benefit from a new “dry-run” capability. Teams can preview configuration changes and detect potential issues before rolling out updates into production. This reduces operational risk and downtime.

Additional updates in MKE 4k 4.1.1 include:

  • Support for custom registries with TLS certificates from private, self-signed Certificate Authorities (CAs), which enables secure image management without access to the internet. This is ideal for industries like finance or government where isolation is essential.
  • Integration with open source Calico for networking support and newly added support for any CNI-compliant plug-in, such as Calico Enterprise or Cilium, for greater flexibility.

k0rdent offers a composable framework for managing distributed Kubernetes across cloud, edge, and on-premises infrastructure. MKE integrates with k0rdent to deliver a production-grade container platform with support for both Kubernetes and Swarm orchestration.

MKE 4k 4.1.1 is available today. For more information, see the release notes and MKE 4k documentation.
