GERMANTOWN, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Hitek Systems, in collaboration with Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI) and Altera, has released the Agilex™ eSOM7 Apollo MxFE® (Mixed Signal Front-End) Development Platform, the first and only Agilex™ 7 FPGA-based development platform designed for seamless development with the ADI Apollo MxFE® AD9084 and AD9088 development kit.
"Keeping pace with RF transceiver innovation, Hitek Systems’ timely release of the Apollo MxFE® Wideband development platform enables wideband application customers to seamlessly evaluate and develop Apollo MxFE® solutions with high performance Altera Agilex™ 7 FPGAs" said Tariq Muhammad, President Hitek Systems.
Hitek Systems’ eSOM7 Apollo MxFE® Development Platform facilitates development of a wide range of applications, including radars, electronic warfare systems, phase array antennas, broadband and satellite communication, and electronic test and measurement systems.
“Altera’s Agilex™ 7 FPGAs deliver the security, bandwidth, and DSP flexibility critical for advanced military systems. Hitek’s eSOM7 Development Platform leverages these high-performance FPGAs to accelerate customer evaluation and development of ADI’s Apollo MxFE® technology,” said Ben Esposito, Senior Principal Engineer for Altera’s Military, Aerospace, and Government Business Unit.”
The new eSOM7 development platform incorporates Altera’s Agilex™ 7 F-tile FPGA with integrated hard IP for networking up to 400G Ethernet and PCIe Gen 4. Adding soft IP like JESD204C, UDP/IP offload engine (UOE) and DIFI allows for a highly optimized front-end processing and transport design.
“ADI is excited to work with Hitek Systems on the Agilex™ eSOM7™ Development Platform. This platform helps enable our customers to unlock the full potential of the Apollo MxFE® in conjunction with Altera’s Agilex™ 7 FPGAs, driving innovation in wideband wireless communication systems and high performance defense applications.” said Robert Dandaraw, Principal Engineer, Product Marketing at ADI.
Key Features
- High-Speed Interface: 48 lanes (24 Rx and 24 Tx) JESD204C interface supporting a maximum speed of 27.5 Gbps per lane. 330 Gbps per 12 lanes of JESD204C links in each direction, providing a total aggregate bandwidth of up to 1.32 Tbps.
- Advanced Connectivity: Up to 400Gbps Ethernet (QSFP-DD) and PCIe Gen 4 x 16 (2x MCIO) interfaces.
- Validated Design: Hardware-validated reference using Altera’s JESD204C IP and Hitek’s ADC/DAC framework, integrating ADI’s Apollo APIs with Agilex™ 7 HPS ARM.
- Network Synchronization: Support for PTP/1588 timing and network synchronization.
- Industrial-Grade Design: Designed for industrial temperate ranges, ensuring reliability in demanding environments.
Hitek Systems has demonstrated their eSOM7 development platform connected to the AD9084 Apollo MxFE® devkit at Altera Innovators Day 2024. The platform achieved an aggregate bandwidth of 330 Gbps per link, with 12 lanes of JESD204C each operating at 27.5Gbps in both the transmit (Tx) and receive (Rx) directions.
The Apollo platform can be paired with either Hitek’s eSOM7-4F (F/I/M-series) or eSOM7-2F (F-series) SOMs. The eSOM7-4F (4x F-tile) supports all MxFE® ADC/DAC channels, while the eSOM7-2F (2x F-tile) supports half of the available channels. Customers can choose to develop their own solutions or collaborate with Hitek Systems to create customized solutions integrated with the Apollo MxFE®.
The Agilex™ eSOM7 Apollo MxFE® Development Platform with the eSOM7-2F (2x F-tile) is available for order now through Hitek Systems. The version featuring the eSOM7-4F (4x F-tile) will be available in Q1 2025.
