Air Liquide invests To Increase Efficiency And Reduce CO 2 Emissions At Its Stade industrial Site In Germany

Air Liquide (Paris:AI) and Dow have renewed their industrial gas supply agreement for the Stade site, one of the largest chemical production sites in the state of Lower Saxony in Germany. Air Liquide will supply industrial gases under a long-term agreement and will invest nearly 40 million euros to modernize its assets. This will increase their operational efficiency and reduce their CO 2 emissions .

As part of this agreement, Air Liquide will modernize its production assets - two air gas separation units (ASU) and a partial oxidation unit (POX) 1 , to which will be added a CO recycling solution 2 . This will enable circular use of the CO 2 produced, leading to an increase of around 15% in energy efficiency and a reduction in emissions of around 15,000 tonnes per year, which represents 80% of direct CO 2 emissions. from the Air Liquide website. The modernization of these assets will be finalized in 2024. Air Liquide has been supplying industrial gases to Dow at the Stade site in Germany for more than 20 years.

Emilie Mouren-Renouard, member of the Air Liquide Executive Committee and Director of the Europe Industries Sector, underlines: “ The climate emergency requires an industrial transformation based not only on the creation of innovative projects but also on modernization and modification step by step. stage of existing factories. This is why we decided to invest nearly 40 million euros in the modernization of our assets at Stade, as part of the renewal of our supply agreement with Dow. The CO 2 recycling solution implemented on the site will both increase energy efficiency and reduce CO 2 emissions . This investment is in line with Air Liquide's ADVANCE strategic plan, which notably plans to reduce the Group's carbon emissions by a third by 2035."
