What Is Infotype?
Infotypes are the backbone of the SAP Human Resource Management System (HRMS). Supercomputers like these are responsible for managing employee data and ensuring that it is kept in pristine condition at all times. Infotypes are little mini-HR systems with human resource information and data storage capabilities. They're like a personal assistant on steroids: they can keep track of all your appointments, remind you when they're coming up, and even order dinner for you if needed. They also have a lot of other functions—they can handle payroll, benefits, training programs, performance reviews anything related to human resources (HR). An infotype is an information unit used to maintain master data related to SAP human resource management systems (HRMS). An infotype contains a four-digit code with a related name and can maintain employee data. In SAP, info types can handle human resource (HR) information, which is often time sensitive. An employee's master record contains a birth date, salary, and job position. An infotype can be created for each type of employee in your organization. For example, you may want different info types for salaried employees than hourly or part-time employees. The salaried worker's infotype might include more fields than the hourly workers because it will contain information like vacation days, sick leave days, and overtime hours worked per week, along with other standard HR information like hire date and termination date. Some infotypes may be further categorized into different groups known as subtypes, which are based on themes. Subtypes are a way of classifying infotypes that have similar characteristics but are not entirely alike enough to be considered the same thing. Like their parent infotype, they have their type and number (for example, 2A1). The main difference is that they have their title and description. Infotypes can be further categorized into subtypes based on a theme.
