What Is Ghostball Virus?
When you're looking for a virus, what do you look for? Do you want something quick and dirty that will infect your computer in no time? Or are you in the market for something more of a long-term investment? Maybe you want to get lucky with a virus that will love you forever. If any of those things sound up your alley, we have a virus for YOU: Ghostballs. Ghostballs is a multipartite virus that can infect COM files and disk boot sectors! That's right: one virus to rule them all. When it comes down to it, Ghostballs is just an old-fashioned romantic at heart—some code inspired it from two different viruses (the Vienna virus and Ping Pong). Don't let its retro charm fool you—Ghostballs gets the job done (and then some). Ghostball is a sneaky little virus. The Ghostball virus infects a computer's COM files and disk boot sectors, targeting the disk boot sector by placing a viral code on it. The virus is activated whenever an infected file is executed, and then it actively searches the directory for other uninfected COM files. You can remove Ghostball by deleting all infected COM files. If you're experiencing an increase in the size of your files by 2,351 bytes, it's time to call a tech expert. If you've recently found that your computer is behaving strangely, it may be infected with a Ghostball virus. You may have also noticed that some files must be corrected or included. If you've ever used your computer as a Ping Pong ball (which is not recommended), you may have experienced the infamous bouncing-ball effect caused by this virus. Ghostball is known to create havoc by increasing the size of infected files by 2,351 bytes and corrupting them so they cannot be opened or deleted. It can also cause those files to bounce around on your screen like a Ping Pong ball being tossed by an overzealous child!
