What Is Business Planning and Control System (BPCS)?
Business Planning and Control System software (BPCS) in enterprise IT is enterprise resource planning (ERP) software. The product is also a specific proprietary ERP product developed by SSA, which Infor acquired in 2018. The company was founded in 1979 by Gary Kriebel and Fred Kurzrok, who worked at IBM before founding their software firm. They created BPCS as a successor to their first product, Business Control System (BCS). Business planning and control systems may seem like they're all about the numbers. But they help you manage your company's day-to-day operations—including designing consistent programs, creating industry-standard architectures, and even ensuring all of your clients have a consistent experience. Because of this, you'll find that these systems are often referred to as enterprise resource planning (ERP) solutions. They typically consist of four main parts: financial management, procurement/sales/inventory management, human resources management and project management.
