What Is Broadcast Storm?
Even we were puzzled when we heard the word Broadcast storm, then we stormed into it and here is what we found. What the heck is a broadcast storm? It sounds like a bad joke: many people broadcast simultaneously on the same channel. It's not funny. It's just plain dangerous. A broadcast storm occurs when a network system is overwhelmed by continuous multicast or broadcast traffic. When different nodes are sending/disclosing data over a network link, and the other network devices are rebroadcasting the data back to the network link in response, this eventually causes the whole network to melt down and leads to a network communication failure. Broadcast storms are like hurricanes in the network. They can be made up of many different things but are always terrible. If you experience a broadcast storm, you may notice issues with your network, such as slow Internet speed, dropped calls, low data limits, or problems streaming videos. To resolve a broadcast storm, you can adjust your network settings or upgrade hardware to a device capable of handling broadcasts. If you experience a broadcast storm on your network, you should contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) to troubleshoot the issue. A broadcast storm occurs when there are many broadcasts on a network or when broadcasts are sent too frequently to the same device from different sources over a short period. It can cause severe issues for other devices on the same network because it can lead to high CPU utilization, which slows down the performance of all devices on that particular network segment. The broadcast storm is a phenomenon that occurs when a network device sends a large amount of unnecessary broadcast traffic. The problem can be very severe and cause damage to the entire network, leading to system downtime.
