Tell us if you remember Jules Ostin, from the movie The Intern. Well, if you remember her, you must also remember how she juggled between her company and her family. We bet she did not know much about Enterprise Mobility, otherwise, she would have implemented strategies to reduce the time she spends visiting her factory every now and then. #MoreFamilyTime

Today’s workforce is more mobile than ever before. As a result, many employees are accessing company resources from their smartphones, tablets and other mobile devices. In fact, the percentage of workers who access the Internet from their work devices outside of work has increased by nearly 20 percent over the last five years. This increased adoption of consumer-operated devices is giving rise to what’s known as “Enterprise Mobility.” This term refers to solutions that help businesses securely manage employee device usage while meeting audit, security and compliance requirements.

To stay with the times, enterprises should look at Enterprise Mobility trends. Stay tuned as we take you through a journey of the top 5 Enterprise Mobility Trends of 2023.

Trend 1: Enterprise-Tailored Apps Will Rule

TechDogs-"Trend 1: Enterprise-Tailored Apps Will Rule"A Meme Of A Man Reading From A Piece Of Paper And Saying - "Welcome To Enterprise Mobility. Where There Are So Many Conflicting Acronyms, They Don't Matter
Imagine your life without your beloved smartphone. No Instagram, no WhatsApp, no notification from any of your favorite applications. Don’t worry, your smartphone is still next to you! We just asked you to IMAGINE. The mere thought of being away from one’s smartphone is a nightmare. In such a generation, enterprises are also switching to mobile applications, escalating the possibility of increased use of enterprise-tailored mobile apps in 2023.

A recent report by Statista recorded that in 2018, the total app revenue amounted to more than 365 billion USD while these mobile apps are projected to generate a revenue of more than 935 billion USD by 2023. In such a situation, companies are shifting from generic apps to enterprise-fit apps or enterprise-tailored apps. Compared to ordinary applications, enterprise-tailored apps include specific functions unique to organizational needs. This avoids functional redundancy and ensures user-specific features, resulting in a streamlined workflow process. #ShiftWithAReason

Enterprise-tailored apps automate business processes across the web and mobile interfaces. This is what we call a seamless data interaction. This approach saves time, money and human effort, streamlines operations and reduces operational costs. With fewer interruptions, enterprise apps provide accessibility and real-time information synchronization. What more you can ask for?

TechDogs’ Opinion: A mobile app's primary function is to enable quick and simple access to employees anywhere using mobile devices. Therefore, we expect that storing mobile app data in the cloud will become an essential element of enterprise-tailored apps. Enterprises will switch to the cloud as they will need solutions that allow them to deliver critical business data to managers, executives and decision-makers while on the go. We also believe that in 2023, Artificial Intelligence (AI) will be used to provide support to the stakeholders in any organization, offering higher personalization across application interfaces. This will not only enhance the user experience but will also appeal to enterprise clients significantly. #EnterpriseAppsForTheWin

Trend 2: Multi-Layer Security Will Become The Standard

About Enterprise Mobility, one of the most pressing issues is that of security. As the attack surface is expanded when an Enterprise Mobility strategy is introduced, more severe security measures must be employed. It is no hidden fact that when corporate data travels, it is often vulnerable to data breaches or unauthorized access. Thus, with the proliferation of mobile devices and apps in the workplace, the importance of multi-layer security will escalate in 2023.

According to Dimension Data, 77% of its survey participants said that data security and user privacy concerns are the biggest challenges any organization faces when they build and implement a mobility strategy. Keeping this in mind, a layered security approach will be a highly effective way to secure the BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) ecosystem. It will help enterprises meet the crucial goal of protecting sensitive business data without impacting user productivity or the native device experience.

In such scenarios, IT admins will need to ensure that all corporate devices are provisioned with the appropriate set of security applications. IT admins will be then able to monitor and secure enterprise data using application-level granular control in Mobile Application Management solutions, which separate enterprise app data from personal app data and restrict actions like copying or transferring data between work and personal profiles in a BYOD device ecosystem.

TechDogs’ Opinion: Enterprise cloud service providers have a well-established infrastructure in place for security. However, they aren't as safe as they should be as employees and customers introduce a human element of failure. Users are frequently tricked into clicking on malicious links and visiting phishing websites that expose their networks to hackers seeking to steal sensitive data. Thus, we believe that the defense-in-depth strategy will be useful in the coming years for enterprise mobility approaches. Defence-in-depth uses a variety of security measures — including data encryption, firewalls, integrity auditing solutions, intrusion detection systems and malware scanners — to secure data from any threat, even that introduced by human error. #SecureYourMobileStrategy

Trend 3: Wi-Fi Edition 6 Will Become The Norm

The world of tomorrow will be one where literally anything can be connected to Wi-Fi, from today's phones, laptops and watches to tomorrow's entryway locks, office desks and even trash cans. Not kidding! According to a recent IDC report, demand for connected devices is expected to unleash more than 40 billion IoT devices, generating over 79 zettabytes (ZB) of data – that’s well over 79 trillion gigabytes. Hence, we believe that enterprise mobility will be highly reliant on Wi-Fi 6 for connectivity and accessibility.

Driven by digital transformation, the world is entering an exciting new wireless era and Wi-Fi Edition 6 is helping it happen. Enterprises will use Wi-Fi 6 to accelerate the adoption of the intelligent edge, where real-time business actions and analytics intersect through technology to improve end-user and application experiences. This wireless technology will also optimize IoT connectivity, deliver faster data computing and processing as well as enable quicker insights and allow real-time IT automation and control.

The use of IoT technologies is burgeoning and WLANs are becoming the natural hub of convergence. The proliferation of Wi-Fi 6 devices and mobile users will lead to the development of wireless local area networks (WLANs) that can connect hundreds or even thousands of client devices on a single access point. These wireless mediums, including Bluetooth, ZigBee and third-party radios, will be consolidated on a single system to improve visibility and control, thus reducing operational costs of wireless systems and optimizing resources in 2023.

TechDogs’ Opinion: We expect that in 2023, Wireless 6 will work as a 5G cellular onramp. Having optimally placed WLAN access points in buildings using Wi-Fi 6, a radio access network (RAN) for a 5G cellular core network can be established in workplaces and nearby areas. Employees or guests can continue working on their smartphones or send secure text messages as their devices will stay connected to the Wi-Fi network as long as they are within the building. We are sure that this will offer employees more mobility within workspaces and enterprises will eliminate the premium cost of deploying hardware equipment such as repeaters and routers by deploying Wi-Fi 6 specified networks. #WiFi6WillTakeYouToTheNextLevel

Trend 4: Artificial Intelligence Will Continue To Redefine Enterprise Mobility

The buzz around AI has indeed been around for a while but if you're someone who is actively involved with the technology (we are sure you are in some way!), you may have realized how ubiquitous it has become. Many organizations across the globe are planning to harness the power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to improve their products, services and business processes. It is not surprising that Enterprise Mobility strategies will also be redefined by AI in 2023.

As predicted by CIOs and corporate leaders, the implementation of Artificial Intelligence in enterprises was only 4% in 2018. However, the number is expected to increase to a whopping 46% in the coming years. The reason is the various ways in which Artificial Intelligence can redefine Enterprise Mobility approaches. Modern workers want to work faster and smarter, not harder and AI has appeared as the driving force behind this efficiency. Voice-activated assistants such as Siri and Alexa, facial recognition technology, smart cars and more technologies are driven by AI are finding adoption in the field of Enterprise Mobility. When it comes to personalization and predictive analytics, the applications of AI in this space are numerous and diverse.

The liberation of time for employees to focus on more human aspects of work is one of the most significant advantages of AI as it continues to automate a large variety of basic tasks. Employees will be able to use smart voice activation to secure their computers and devices. Future gesture recognition on computers and smartphones might mean that the keyboards and mice will be eliminated or at least augmented by exciting new AI technologies.

TechDogs’ Opinion: We expect that in 2023, enterprises will defend themselves against external threats and irregularities by depending on Artificial Intelligence. We believe AI will help in monitoring enterprise-wide activities, detects abnormalities in the ecosystem and trigger alarms for warning in real-time. Not only this but enterprises will also leverage AI to gain knowledge of their topologies, baseline performance and behavior of employee devices using AI’s analytics capabilities. We are confident that AI will enhance automated issue detection and resolution in enterprise environments and mobile devices. #AllYouNeedIsAI

Trend 5: Wearable Technology Will Be Here For The Long Run

We once believed that mobile phones and smart applications would transform the enterprise mobility sector. However, we now realize that wearable enterprise mobility is about to be the next big thing, given how far we have come with wearable technology in the past year. Wearables will meet the business demands of several companies and have more potential to offer in 2023, making it to our top trends list in 2023.

Many analysts are quite optimistic about wearable technologies' future revenue and growth. According to Deloitte, wearables sales are expected to reach $3 billion this year, with over 10 million units expected to be sold. In addition, McKinsey & Company estimates that the market's net value will be $33 trillion by 2025. Wearable technology delivers organization-wide efficiency, convenience and accessibility. Employees today need to log in to mobile devices, access the application and enter the required data, all of which takes around 20-30 minutes and they might repeat the gesture more than a dozen times a day.

However, with wearables, employees can inject a significant amount of efficiency into workplace processes as they can be used for identity verification, NFC-based data transfer and other services. Wearables will also collect data through contextual location, as well as perform a multitude of tasks automatically, thereby reducing the amount of time required for each step and replacing it with micro-interactions via wearables.

Wearable technology, as part of the Enterprise Mobility strategy, will help employees provide better service to clients by encouraging flexibility. An enterprise application will also need to be deployed on smartphones to transfer wearable device data. Employees will be able to respond to reminders, appointments, emails and other demands more rapidly when they are using wearables on the go. Wearables will be used to interact with employees and service requests even when employees are not at their desks.

TechDogs’ Opinion: We believe that in 2023, wearable technology will not only offer flexibility but will also gain enterprise-wide traction for energy harvesting. The advancement in the battery life of wearables will offer more reliable solutions. We also expect businesses to develop new methods of converting body heat, movement or solar energy into power that will improve the reliability of wearables. Apart from this, wearable technology and biometrics may converge in the future, allowing employees to identify themselves through various methods using their wearable devices. We are sure that enterprises will integrate new services within enterprise-issued wearables to ease convenience and accessibility for better mobility. #WearablesWillBeInevitable
