TechDogs- I Like To Move It Move It-"Future Of Enterprise Mobility: 5 Trends And Predictions For 2021"
Before we ramble on about the Enterprise Mobility industry and how it will change in 2021, let's take a slight detour for a little Iron Man appreciation. One of our favorite scenes was in Iron Man 1, where Tony Stark, sporting the Iron Man suit soaring through the sky getting chased by military jets, receives a call from his friend Colonel James Rhodes. No hands, not even a touch or blink - a few rings in and 'Rhodes' voice zips into Stark's ears, with real-time data being flashed in front of his eyes on a heads-up display panel. If you thought that was too futuristic to be accurate, well, you couldn't be more wrong!

Enterprise Mobility Technology is probably one of the few sectors that has witnessed massive levels of innovation over the years, especially when it comes to communication and collaboration at workplaces. As technology evolves, interaction within firms adapt and continues to develop- instant messaging replaced landlines and emails, collaborative tools such as Google docs replaced the primitive paper files, cloud storage replaced the floppy disk and you get the point.

Businesses are learning to capitalize on the rising relevance of mobile technology to run more efficient operations. Mobile device such as laptops, smartphones and technologies such as cloud storage and online collaboration tools all together ushered the "flexible working culture" for most businesses. As a result, the term "Enterprise Mobility" has evolved to mean "flexible working methods" and "remote working."

Organizations that don't keep up with the newest developments in Enterprise Mobility Technology amongst the digital revolution tornado. To keep that from happening, we curated a list of all the latest Enterprise Mobility Trends of 2021 that will keep you on your toes.

Trend 1: Enterprises Will Encourage BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) Policies

One of the rising trends this year will be BYOD or Bring Your Own Device policy - also called bring your own technology. Ever since the pandemic-induced lockdown, enterprises are encouraging employees to use their personal devices for work rather than an officially provided device. The Bring Your Own Device model is helping companies improve their enterprise mobility strategies while access for devices allows saving on hardware and software expenses. The BYOD approach also promotes employee satisfaction within a corporate environment.

According to data from Spiceworks, a networking hub for IT professionals, 35% of devices in today's workplace are already employee-owned and 75% of businesses allow, or at least plan to authorize, BYOD in the workplace soon. Adopting a BYOD model will enhance workforce flexibility and let employees be more mobile. However, to effectively execute the BYOD model, businesses must verify that their employees' devices are appropriately provisioned and adhere to appropriate device settings the company's security policy.

TechDogs' Opinion: As the remote work model shifts to a hybrid workforce model, enterprises will rely on BYOD policies to encourage employees to transition back to physical offices seamlessly. Yes, sadly, you will have to go back to office. Businesses will need to configure all devices with enterprise-level security, establish different storage for business and personal data as well as install tools that will allow the IT team to monitor devices.

Trend 2: It’s Time To Welcome Augmented Reality And Virtual Reality

With immersive experiences, the combination of AR and VR may change the whole enterprise mobility landscape. Today's customers expect an immersive experience in everything they do, for example: we love online shopping but how often does it happen that the things you buy online perfectly fit your home? Once in a blue moon for us! What if you could virtually get your furniture home to see how it would look, feel and fit in your house before swiping the card? Welcome to the future, as Ikea stores powered by AR and VR technologies are offering exactly that. This way, there will be no nasty surprises after making the purchases or any need to return items either. What a blissful world that would be!

Scott Belsky, chief product officer of LinkedIn, says, "Well, we believe that augmented reality is one of those new mediums that could be as big as if not bigger than the web. One of the areas where consumers adopt something new is when it makes something drastically easier."
According to Statista, the global Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) market is expected to grow exponentially in the next decade.

TechDogs' Opinion: AR and VR technologies will become more prominent in the near future and affect most of your daily activities. You might not even have to use screens to read messages or reply to calls through smartphones, your messages will be projected right in front of your eyes by the AR and VR devices you wear. There will be no need to swipe your cards or scan QR codes to make a payment; the payment would be made virtually by hand gestures tracked by AR and VR devices. The AR and VR technology will create a digital workspace where employees will work and interact with each other. Beacon technology is showing a sharp uptick across several industry verticals, including retail space, airlines, hotels, B2B arenas, football leagues and many more. Beacons are miniature wireless transmitters that relay messages to other smart devices nearby using low-energy Bluetooth technology. They are one of the most recent advancements in proximity marketing and location technologies. Put simply, beacons relay data to mobile device management, making location-based searches more convenient and precise.

So far, the technology is mainly used to create accurate digital footprints and user journeys by tracking their offline activities and connecting it with online corporate data. However, the development of beacon-based technologies will boost enterprise mobility solutions in diverse domains such as healthcare, travel, retail and field force management. It will also help enterprises create customized mobile app for device management to improve compliance, mobile security and device location tracking.

According to research, the global beacon technology market has shown steady growth through 2019 and is expected to continue its stride up till 2026 and beyond. Yes, the beacons are LIT and there's no slowing down!

TechDogs' Opinion: Beacon technology will soon improve employees' online and offline experience by streamlining operations and data collection. Enterprises will develop tailor-made beacon devices to enhance customer experience, establish device-based proximity triggers and more. Most of all, retailers will improve in-store shopping experiences by using beacon devices to identify customers through their devices and trigger discount codes to appear on the consumer's device for previously browsed products.

Trend 4: Seamless IoT App Integrations Is Today’s Reality

The myriad of business systems working behind the curtains of successful enterprises is not supported by divine providence. In addition to essential resources, they are powered by seamless IoT integrations that prioritize data and keep the information flowing without a hitch to maintain efficiency in every aspect. As we move into the future, you will see real-time data used to connect services and the integration of APIs and seamless IoT app integrations will offer the ability to communicate with each other. Tony Stark's home computer J.A.R.V.I.S. is an outstanding example of an IoT device integration. The machine used streamlined IoT technologies to handle everything in the house, from heating and cooling systems to engine analysis and assisting Tony in projects. Could Enterprise Mobility get any better than a high-tech suit that you can walk around in and it takes care of everything?

Brendan O'Brien, Chief Architect & Co-Founder, Aria Systems, says, "The IoT promotes a heightened level of awareness about our world, and a platform from which to monitor the reactions to the changing conditions that said awareness exposes us to." According to Enterprise Mobility Management Market study by Mordor Intelligence, the global IoT market is expected to grow rapidly with the culmination of industrial and IoT technologies. If the reports are to be believed, you could see 3.09 million IoT integrations in the EU retail sector alone.

TechDogs' Opinion: We predict IoT to continue its steady growth in 2021, with more mobile applications being developed keeping IoT in mind. IoT devices will enhance enterprise mobility, positively impacting organizational growth and productivity of remote employees. It will also enable the remote workers to communicate better through IoT-enabled wearable and mobile devices.

Trend 5: 5G Tech Will Get Feistier

TechDogs-Trend 5: "5G"-2D Image With 5G Wireless Network With Global Map And Connection Concept 3D Rendering Illustration
5G technology will allow communication networks to do everything they can do now but faster and more reliably. Developed countries have already begun developing 5G networks in their country and other countries will follow suit. 5G is currently used by businesses that use Industrial IoT to monitor performance logistics and production. The technology is also being considered to build smart cities across the world where digital solutions could improve safety, reduce traffic congestion and make public services more efficient. Smart IoT sensors and 5G technology will become the foundation of smart cities where smart IoT sensors can transmit data quickly over 5G networks to alert city officials about various problems.

Alfons Pfaller, Head of Infotainment Development, AUDI AG, says, "Connected cars will shape the future of individual mobility, and next-generation mobile networks will take car-to-x connectivity to a new level."

TechDogs' Opinion: The 5G waves will usher in a revolution that will boost remote work productivity, minimize latency, improve the performance of IoT devices and make mobile apps run quicker. 5G is predicted to be ten times faster than 4G in terms of connectivity and speed, making it a perfect solution for improving communication, network reliability and customer experience. Overall, 5G will boost production and profitability while streamlining enterprise mobility.
