Vikram: I began my journey in marketing as a digital strategist at a startup. This initial experience taught me how to leverage online platforms for brand growth. Eventually, I became the Marketing Director at my current company, overseeing cross-functional teams and crafting comprehensive marketing strategies that drive results.

TD: As we witness the post-COVID dynamics with AI advancements, what are the foremost challenges marketers face?

Vikram: The post-COVID landscape demands agile responses. AI advancements hold immense promise, yet the challenge lies in maintaining the delicate balance between automation and authentic human connection. We must decode shifting consumer behavior and preferences accurately to tailor experiences. Ensuring data privacy and ethical AI use is paramount in building trust amid technological strides.

TD: Given the unique preferences of Generation Z, how do you strategize your marketing approaches to resonate with this demographic? 

Vikram: Understanding Gen Z requires authenticity. Our strategy involves co-creation, involving them in product ideation and marketing campaigns. We focus on platforms like TikTok and Instagram Reels, where bite-sized, visually appealing content thrives. Gen Z also values social causes: so, we align with their beliefs, creating purpose-driven campaigns that resonate deeply.

TD: In your expert opinion, what are some of the prevalent missteps or pitfalls that brands often make while executing their marketing campaigns?

Vikram: One prevalent pitfall is inconsistency in messaging across channels. Brands also stumble when chasing trends without aligning with their core identity. Underestimating the power of analytics can lead to misguided decisions. Lastly, neglecting the post-purchase experience can also hamper long-term customer relationships.

TD: Could you please share some words of wisdom for young aspiring and experienced marketing professionals? 

Vikram: For aspiring marketers, curiosity is your greatest asset. Never stop learning; be prepared to unlearn and relearn as the landscape evolves. Experienced professionals, stay humble – your expertise and willingness to embrace new ideas will keep you at the forefront. Lastly, remember that behind every data point is a real human – empathy should guide your strategies.
